About the Event

Join us for a full 10K or open distance swim October 1st in memory of Scott Hemstreet. Registration fees benefit the South Bay Youth Project.

You can also register to paddle or kayak the full 10K or an open distance.

Event begins at Torrance Tower, just down from the large parking lot at 387 Paseo de la Playa, Torrance. Paid parking is available in that parking lot and along streets in the neighborhood.

Registration options include:

  • Full 10K swim
  • Full 10K paddle/kayak
  • Open distance swim (less than 10K)
  • Open distance paddle/kayak (less than 10K)
  • Donation Only

The registration deadline to guarantee a t-shirt is September 16.

If you wish to donate $500 or more, you will receive a custom embroidered soft shell jacket in addition to the t-shirt and cap. Deadline for the jacket is also September 16. All funds raised go to the South Bay Youth Project, part of South Bay Children's Health Center.

This is a non-competitive, non-timed event. If you would like, we will assign you a pod the day of the event, made up of 5-8 swimmers, paddlers and kayakers of similar speeds. Those who have done this in the past had a blast doing the event together! If you wish to swim/paddle/kayak separately or and have your own paddler/pod, please make a note in your registration.

*note - prices are set in order to cover our costs and ensure we can provide a donation to the SBYP.

This is a 100% volunteer run event and is for the community by the community. Too many of our family members, friends, relatives, and residents are affected by mental health issues. We are aiming to raise awareness of the issue and encourage healthy activities such as ocean swimming. As many of us know, the ocean heals. And as a community we can come together to make all of us stronger.
